Tobo was born from a simple yet powerful observation: in our modern lives, we are surrounded by countless types of paper—napkins, tissues, handkerchiefs—yet, in reality, we truly only need one. That one is toilet paper. Designed for the most delicate part of the body, it is soft, gentle, and surprisingly ideal for many other uses, including wiping your nose.

Hiroshi Tsunoda reimagined this everyday object with Tobo, transforming it into a functional and elegant solution for a variety of situations. Tobo is a clever holder that “dresses” toilet paper, allowing it to be used anywhere—from living rooms and offices to restaurants—without ever feeling out of place. It turns an often-overlooked, utilitarian object into something thoughtful, practical, and surprisingly sophisticated.

This rethinking of toilet paper challenges perceptions, merging economy, sustainability, and design intelligence. By showing that one simple material can serve many purposes, Tobo reflects Hiroshi’s philosophy of questioning conventions, simplifying life, and finding beauty and functionality in the most ordinary objects.

The design’s ingenuity and relevance did not go unnoticed: Tobo was selected as a finalist for the prestigious Spanish Delta Award, highlighting its innovative approach to everyday materials and clever design thinking.
